Branches

Mataqali Nailega is roughly divided into six branches according to geographical location. They are:

  1. Central - for those that spend most of their time in and around the general Suva, Nasinu, Nausori and Navua areas.

  2. Northern - for those in the Cakaudrove, Bua, Macuata provincial boundaries.

  3. Overseas - those that have moved outside the Fiji Islands for whatever reason.

  4. Vatukarasa - those that remain in the koro and surrounding area.
  5. Western - for those in the Sigatoka - Rakiraki corridor and neighbouring provinces.

Then there is the special interest groups.

  1. Soqosoqo ni Turaga: for the Mataqali men
  2. Soqosoqo ni Marama: for the Mataqali ladies

Anyone interested in the functions and development of the Mataqali Nailega should turn up at any mataqali gathering. Just walk in, even if it is only for the yaqona, kakana, talanoa or any combination of these three.
